Visa-Free Entry

Qatar allows visa-free entry for citizens of certain countries. The duration of stay and visa requirements may vary depending on your nationality. Some nationalities can enter without a visa for up to 90 days, while others may be limited to a shorter period, such as 30 or 60 days.

To check if your country is eligible for visa-free entry, visit the official Qatar visa website or contact the nearest Qatari embassy.

Online Application (E-Visa)

Qatar offers an e-visa service for several visa types. Here’s how to apply:

  • Visit the official Qatar Visa Portal.
  • Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  • Select the visa type.
  • Complete the application form and upload required documents.
  • Pay the visa fee (if applicable).
  • Once processed, you’ll receive your e-visa via email.

Visa on Arrival

Citizens of eligible countries can get a visa on arrival at Hamad International Airport in Doha. This is typically for tourists and allows a stay of 30 to 90 days depending on nationality. Visa on arrival can be extended if needed.

Documents needed for a visa on arrival:

  • Valid passport.
  • Return ticket.
  • Proof of hotel booking or host accommodation.

Work Visa Process

For a work visa:

  • You must first secure a job offer from a Qatari company.
  • The company becomes your sponsor and handles most of the paperwork.
  • You will need to undergo a medical examination and provide necessary documents like a criminal background check and copies of your qualifications.
  • The sponsor submits the application to the Ministry of Interior, and the visa will be processed.
  • Once issued, you can enter Qatar, where the company will convert your visa into a residence permit.

Family Visa Process

If you are a resident in Qatar and wish to bring your family:

  • Your employer must sponsor your family visa.
  • You will need to submit salary certificates, a copy of your rental contract, and other documents to prove your financial ability to support your family.
  • The visa process can take several weeks and includes submitting an online application through the Ministry of Interior’s portal.

Visa Fees

Visa fees depend on the type of visa and the duration of stay:

  • Tourist Visa: Around 100-150 QAR (approx. $25-$40 USD).
  • Business Visa: Fees vary based on business arrangements.
  • Work Visa: Handled by the employer, but typically incurs higher costs due to medical and administrative fees.
  • Family Visa: Around 200 QAR (approx. $55 USD).

Extending Your Visa

Some visas, such as tourist visas, can be extended for an additional fee. Visit the Ministry of Interior website or a local immigration office in Qatar to apply for an extension.

COVID-19 Travel Regulations

Due to the pandemic, Qatar may have additional requirements, such as:

  • Presenting a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure.
  • Proof of vaccination.
  • Quarantine regulations for unvaccinated travelers or those coming from certain countries.

Important Tips

  • Always check with the Qatari embassy or the official government websites for the most up-to-date information before traveling.
  • If you are transiting through Qatar for more than 5 hours, you may be eligible for a free transit visa.
  • Make sure you have medical insurance, especially for longer stays.
